Iranian Hypersonic Missiles Beating Israel’s Iron Dome (Photo via Twitter)
The Iron Dome failed its mission at the worst time possible.
For the ones unaware, the dome is an Israeli mobile all-weather air defense system.
This is crucial information after Israel launched blistering attacks on the heart of Iran’s nuclear and military structure Friday to kick off a war between two hated rivals. They deployed warplanes and drones previously smuggled into the country to assault key facilities and kill top generals and scientists.
Iran wasn’t going to take this sitting down and launched a barrage of missiles at Israel. Air raid sirens have been heard across the country, including Jerusalem.
Israel’s multilayered air-defense system was tested Friday night as Iran launched ballistic missiles at them.
Israel’s military said it had intercepted the vast majority of the missiles but that some left “a few impacts on buildings.”
Israel’s Iron Dome defense system failed on Friday as at least seven missiles struck targets in Tel Aviv and nearby cities, injuring at least 21.

Iran announced the start of its retaliatory strikes on Israel, with state media IRNA stating that the counterattacks had begun.
In a second round of attacks, sirens and explosions could be heard booming in the sky over Jerusalem early Saturday.
More On The Iron Dome
A pro-Israel counterprotester waves an Israeli flag as hundreds gathered on the State House lawn to demand an end to the Israel-Hamas war.
Iran launched dozens of missiles on Friday and hit several sites in Israel after waves of Israeli strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities and military leaders.
Israel has long been prepared for a full-scale assault by Iranian missiles and drones.
Those layers of protection are now being put to the test.
The Iron Dome is Israel’s best-known air defense system, which fires interceptors to take down short-range rockets.
Unfortunately, it cannot catch everything, which is why Israel is taking some damage.
